“Radiation Processing Modelling – Your Accelerator for Product Design” webinar le 16 Novembre 16 h (heure de Paris)
Sterilization by radiation processing is a standardized process for some health care devices. Sterility validation is part of product development and evaluation of dose distribution in products is a key step as it can impact the choices made during the design of such products (Radiation processing may present disadvantages of inducing modifications for exposed materials.).The qualification of irradiated products to assess their performance is mandatory and obviously requires prototypes in hands, which can be a (long) iterative process. In a world where time to market is essential to remain competitive, Radiation Processing Modelling is an appropriate tool to consider radiation impacts and dose distribution at an early stage of the product design and therefore improve the design efficiency of a new product. - RayXpert’s at IMRP20-Bangkok ThailandEvents / NewsWe will be at IMRP 20 in Bangkok Thailand from November 7th to 10th with our partner Iba ! We are very grateful to our wonderful partner for hosting us on their stand. Come and meet us on IBA’s booth to speak about RayXpert : “A modeling software to predict dose maps !” We look forward to seeing you in Bangkok! The International Meeting on Radiation Processing (IMRP) is recognised as the leading international event for those involved in the application or science of radiation processing. It is where the business and science of irradiation come together to discuss recent advances, current trends as well as the issues and opportunities that impact the commercial use of ionizing radiation. IMRP is organised every 2-3 years on a different continent by the International Irradiation Association (iia). The IMRP program is always topical and includes regional, technology and application updates from industry leaders. The meeting format has evolved for IMRP20 to enable participants to only attend a forum on their specific area of interest. The IMRP exhibition, side events and technical tours are great opportunities to learn and to meet industry colleagues. The iia understands the importance of networking and has allowed for this at IMRP20 with networking events, receptions and other opportunities to discuss the science and business of irradiation. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6986589124421918720 […] 14 October 2022

- Reducing the uncertainties in modelling results through better understanding of the impact of physical uncertaintiesNewsBy Nicolas MARY1, Cédric DOSSAT1, Ludovic EYCHENNE1, Nathalie CHATRY1 TRAD Tests and Radiation, 907 voie l’Occitane, 31670 Labège, France In the field of radiation processing, modelling is an asset. It can be used to investigate different loadout, assess the viability of a process, determine whether a double-sided irradiation will be necessary, etc… To that end, understanding where the uncertainties stem from is a critical aspect, both with measurement and with simulated results. With regard to radiation processing, both the lowest dose and the highest dose received by the target are of importance, meaning that penalizing hypothesis cannot be used so as not to skew the results toward either high or low results. Nonetheless, for practicality reasons, hypothesis often need to be used regarding parameters such as chemical composition, thickness of radiation shielding, sources’ activity, distance between source and targets, etc. Using the RayXpert® 3D Monte-Carlo software, we aim at evaluating the impact of standard uncertainty on the dose (water kerma) on a typical Co-60 irradiator. Uncertainties regarding the source activity, distance between target and source and thickness of parts of the packaging will be investigated. […] 18 May 2022

- IBA and TRAD Tests & Radiations announce collaboration to develop next generation radiation processing applicationEvents / NewsLong-term strategic partnership to facilitatethe transition to E-beam and X-ray sterilization Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) and Labege (France), 28 October 2021 – IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A) and TRAD Tests & Radiations (SARL TRAD), today announced a strategic partnership to enable the development of a new radiation processing module based on TRAD’s RayXpert® 3D modelling and dose calculation technology. RayXpert®, a 3D modelling and dose calculation software that uses the Monte Carlo calculation method, is currently used for nuclear and medical applications. It is the only dose calculation software that combines the simplicity and speed of use with the high level of accuracy of the Monte Carlo method. IBA and TRAD will expand RayXpert® capabilities by designing a new module that will make it easier to validate newly developed products that use cutting-edge electron beam (E-beam) and X-ray technology. Such technology can be used for various industrial applications, including sterilization of Disposable Medical Devices (DMD). IBA is a world leader in E-beam and X-ray sterilization and, with TRAD’s simulation expertise, the two companies will leverage their capabilities to develop innovative solutions in sterilization and optimize radiation processing. The partnership will cover the R&D, marketing and sales aspects of the new RayXpert® module. Thomas Servais, President of IBA Industrial, commented, “We are excited to be partnering with TRAD. Their expertise in the development of first-in-class software specifically dedicated to the nuclear sector, combined with IBA’s extensive experience in the radiation processing market, will enable us to bridge the gap between the current technology and the increasing unmet need in the sterilization market.” “IBA is the undisputed leader in X-ray and E-beam technologies and we look forward to collaborating with them to improve the industrial method in radiation processing and develop the application of simulation with RayXpert® for the benefit of sterilization.” said Christian Chatry, President of TRAD.
